ABIGAIL 1 Sam 25

Abigail is my favorite woman of the Bible.  I think that is because in my experience in pastoring women they mostly come to me with their problems … and listening to them could make me think the problem behind everything is their husband! 😀 Well of course I know their husbands and they are not the devil…  just men.

According to Bible Abigail actually had an evil husband:

Now there was a man in Maon whose business was in Carmel, and the man was very rich. He had three thousand sheep and a thousand goats. The name of the man was Nabal, and the name of his wife Abigail. And she was a woman of good understanding and beautiful appearance; but the man was harsh and evil in his doings. 1 Sam 25: 2-3 NKJV

Abigail was a beautiful woman with a good understanding – and even tho she was married to a harsh man that was evil in his doings – that did not affect Abigail! If Abigail could not pass the blame on her life’s circumstances to her husband – surely none of us can!

God deals with everyone according to our own doings (Rom 2:6).  We reap what we sow. (Gal 6:7) Abigail got according to her actions that were flowing out of her understanding heart. She got what she deserved and God gave her according to her doings.

Nabal got according to his doings too. Abigail’s actions had nothing to do with Nabal’s reaping  for his own life.

Read the story yourself and let Holy Ghost minister to you about your rightful behavior towards first of all your God and secondly your husband. In any part of the story was Abigail not submissive or disrespectful to her husband. However she did not stay home and stay passive in her service to the Lord because of her husband was of very different opinion, but she did what was in her power to do! And that was a lot- being that she was obviously a virtuous women who “looked well for the ways of her house “ (prov 31:27)

God does not want you to live in a compromise! Even if your marriage was organized your parents and your husband is “evil in his doings” – righteous living will bring you to a place of blessing. No circumstance cannot stay forever! Abigail ended up becoming kings wife – not a bad end to a story! She got the king and half of the kingdom- go read it yourself!

Okey it’s spring time and bees are buzzing for flowers again. Many people start feeling these weird emotions and ideas spark into their heads of maybe there would be that perfect person somewhere, a soul mate, someone who loves you unconditionally as you are…

The concept of a soulmate does not seem very christian. That there would be someone who knows and fulfills your needs….without you communicating.

I heard this song on the radio today:

Cause all of me

Loves all of you

Love your curves and all your edges

All your perfect imperfections

Give your all to me

I’ll give my all to you

You’re my end and my beginning

Even when I lose I’m winning

‘Cause I give you all of me

And you give me all of you

Very nice song and idea ladies- but let me crash your dreams- There ain’t a person in the world that can fill that !!  It takes God to love you with that kind of love.

Which brings us to God. He is perfect. He is love. His love is perfect. His love is Agape. Don’t ever confuse this to some person, or  let any person take God’s place in your life!

Searching for a soulmate sets you on a path of finding someone to fulfill YOUR needs and  YOUR desires. Very selfish!  Very carnal-  That is something coming out of our flesh where as the highest kind of love: Agape- is unselfish. Agape is of the spirit. We can only love someone and experience this highest love being filled His Spirit.

Bible says Agape is poured into our hearts Holy Spirit. (Rom 5:5). Let’s practise that love! Grow in this love! Learn to receive this love to a full ! And forget the foolishness and carnality that world is trying to search. We’ve got the real thing!  Let’s spread it out for others too – They will LOVE it !

Ps. I am all for marriage! Best thing in the world!- but that is not a topic of this blog – Purpose for this blog was just to point out this silliness, and hopefully get that search off from someone’s system. Happy spring to all!
