Forgiveness – To release, let go and to set aside

Forgiveness

It is time to release, let go and to set aside. In the end times there will be offences and the love of many will grow cold.

“Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.” Matthew 24:12 NLT

We as believers are commanded to walk in LOVE!

“Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.” Colossians 3:13 KJV

“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32 KJV

Do not hold a grudge against anyone, or harbor bad intentions towards anyone.

“One day Jesus said to his disciples, “There will always be temptations to sin, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting! It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around your neck than to cause one of these little ones to fall into sin. So watch yourselves! “If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then if there is repentance, forgive. Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.” The apostles said to the Lord, “Show us how to increase our faith.” The Lord answered, “If you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘May you be uprooted and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you! “When a servant comes in from plowing or taking care of sheep, does his master say, ‘Come in and eat with me’? No, he says, ‘Prepare my meal, put on your apron, and serve me while I eat. Then you can eat later.’ And does the master thank the servant for doing what he was told to do? Of course not. In the same way, when you obey me you should say, ‘We are unworthy servants who have simply done our duty.’” Luke‬ ‭17:1-10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Stay alert, be on guard by protecting your heart from unforgiveness.

When Jesus becomes our Lord, and God is our Heavenly Father; we don’t have a choice in the matter. We need to be walking in forgiveness, it is who we are!

When you have unforgiveness and offence in your life, it is a issue of the heart:

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23 KJV

Sometimes unrealistic expectations can be a trap to us. We should check what our expectations are, so that we don’t create unnecessary burdens. Your husband/wife is not the source of all the good and happiness in your life!

Always walk in love, always forgive!

“I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.” Isaiah 43:25 KJV

“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” Hebrews 8:12 KJV

When God forgives us: He forgets. He will not remember our sins!

Not just an outward act, or a religious routine, but a heart condition and a heart attitude.

  • We should not hold a grudge against anyone!
  • Live the life of faith and love, always forgiving!

“And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” Mark 11:25 KJV

“For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.” Galatians 5:6 KJV

God forgives, and He heals.

As we repent of our sin and turn to God: He saves, heals and He restores!

“And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” James‬ ‭5:15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;” Psalms‬ ‭103:1-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As believers we should be quick to repent if we’ve taken wrong steps, and ask for His forgiveness. Repentance is not about feeling bad because we got caught doing something we should not have done. Repentance is about turning away from sin, making a change, and adjusting the way we think to line up with the Word of God.

As we repent, and confess our sins, God will forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 KJV

Once you’ve received His forgiveness, it’s time to look into the future and what God has for you. Forgetting the past, and focusing on the future!

Once you have received His forgiveness, you can’t hold on to the old things yourself! If He forgave you, and forgot, you have to do the same and move forward!

“Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3:12-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Declare and pray today:

“I have received His forgiveness. I walk in love. I walk by faith. I forgive everyone who has ever hurt me or offended me.”
