Holy Ghost filled and sanctified

(Pyhällä Hengellä täytetty ja pyhitetty)

“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Pyrkikää rauhaan kaikkien kanssa ja pyhitykseen, sillä ilman sitä ei kukaan ole näkevä Herraa;”
‭‭Heprealaisille‬ ‭12‬:‭14‬ ‭FINPR‬‬

William Evans wrote:
If regeneration has to do with our nature, justification with our standing, and adoption with our position, then sanctification has to do with our character and conduct. In justification we are declared righteous in order that, in sanctification, we may become righteous. Justification is what God does for us, while sanctification is what God does in us. Justification puts us into a right relationship with God, while sanctification exhibits the fruit of that relationship – a life separated from a sinful world and dedicated to God. (William Evans, The Great Doctrines of the Bible (Chicago: The Moody Bible Institute, 1939), 164.)

By Christ’s complete work on the cross, and by His blood, you were made righteous by faith (Rom. 5:1+9, 1 Cor. 6:11, Heb. 10:10+14).

  • Right standing before God!
  • As you believed – it was instant!
  • As a gift Jesus delivered righteousness to you.
  • Record clean, no fault, holy, justified.

.. and it is ALSO ongoing work in your life!

“I’m Holy Ghost filled and sanctified”

Some reasons people don’t take a hold of this personally:

  • Inability to see value, looking at one’s life just from natural perspective – not through Christ’s death, burial and resurrection.
  • Not comprehending God’s amazing plan of redemption, His love and His power.
  • “This doesn’t apply to me” (I’m too broken, I’m too poor, I’m wealthy, I’ve been treated wrong, I’m not a pastor, my life situation in unique, will do later, “God sees my heart”, I’m just a regular person working a job)
  • “Everyone is living like the world”
  • “Nobody can live a sanctified life”
  • “Anyone who says they can live a sanctified life is self-righteous”
  • “Everyone messes up all the time, that’s why we need God”

(All these statements are false – You are called, set apart for God, God’s grace is on your life, mighty power of the Holy Spirit is in you)

  • Yes, everyone needs Jesus, and once Jesus has saved you, you’re to be sanctified!

“.. holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord ..”

Hunger and thirst for righteousness! (Mat. 5:6)

Sanctification is always part of a genuine move of God. He is the Holy Spirit, and when He fills you and dwells in you, He calls us unto God and away from the world.

“because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Sillä kirjoitettu on: “Olkaa pyhät, sillä minä olen pyhä”.”
‭‭1. Pietari‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬ ‭FINPR‬‬

  • When we say the “away from the world” we don’t refer to moving to Mars, but to thinking, speaking and conduct. (In 1 Peter 1:17 we are called temporary residents on the earth in AMPC bible)

In order to have a pure river flowing in your life, you’re called to sanctification. In thought, speech and action.

Many old time pentecostal preachers used to shout: “Holy Ghost filled and sanctified”. We are Holy Ghost filled and sanctified.

  • Sweetness comes with a humble, teachable, meek, silent, consecrated spirit.

”I’m keeping my clothing pure
for the coming of the Lord!”

This is a way of life, as our days are filled with choices, and it is a path you are on! Holy Ghost filled, and sanctified!

Already made righteous, and daily making the right choices!

“Stay away from all sexual sin” (NLT) (1 Thes 4:3-5) We live in a time where standard in many ways is what God’s Word calls sexual sin.

  • Young men are supposed to be interested in young ladies.
  • Young ladies are supposed to be interested in young men.

(It’s just how you go about it, we know God wants you blessed, but that doesn’t mean you’ll rob the K-Market at gunpoint after service)

  • You want this area to be pure in your life, if you’re looking to marry a godly spouse. You may attract a catch you do not want.
  • Sexual purity is needed in marriage as well.

“THEREFORE, SINCE these [great] promises are ours, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that contaminates and defiles body and spirit, and bring [our] consecration to completeness in the [reverential] fear of God.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭7‬:‭1‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

  • We are daily faced with temptations to get bitter, to be jealous, lust, be covetous, allow hatred in our hearts, to get upset and anxious.
  • Sometimes we hear things (by accident) that upset us.
  • We may spend time with people who speak and act a certain way, that is unfruitful.
  • Free from compromise, doubt and offenses.

God has a unique, mighty, final-day plan for your life. To see it fulfilled, requires sanctification!

“I’m Holy Ghost filled and sanctified”

It takes the power of the Holy Spirit, combined with our fully surrendered lifestyle to bring this to pass. We can’t be sanctified on our own, and God won’t do the work without out co-operation.

“So kill (deaden, deprive of power) the evil desire lurking in your members [those animal impulses and all that is earthly in you that is employed in sin]: sexual vice, impurity, sensual appetites, unholy desires, and all greed and covetousness, for that is idolatry (the deifying of self and other created things instead of God).”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“Clothe yourselves therefore, as God’s own chosen ones (His own picked representatives), [who are] purified and holy and well-beloved [by God Himself, by putting on behavior marked by] tenderhearted pity and mercy, kind feeling, a lowly opinion of yourselves, gentle ways, [and] patience [which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper]. Be gentle and forbearing with one another and, if one has a difference (a grievance or complaint) against another, readily pardoning each other; even as the Lord has [freely] forgiven you, so must you also [forgive]. And above all these [put on] love and enfold yourselves with the bond of perfectness [which binds everything together completely in ideal harmony].”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭12‬-‭14‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Let’s take what the Spirit is saying to the church, and with fresh passion consecrate our lives to Jesus!

Scriptures:

“I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God]; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved sound and complete [and found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭23‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“Therefore Jesus also suffered and died outside the [city’s] gate in order that He might purify and consecrate the people through [the shedding of] His own blood and set them apart as holy [for God].”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13‬:‭12‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

4/ We were buried therefore with Him by the baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious [power] of the Father, so we too might [habitually] live and behave in newness of life.
11/ Even so consider yourselves also dead to sin and your relation to it broken, but alive to God [living in unbroken fellowship with Him] in Christ Jesus.
13/ Do not continue offering or yielding your bodily members [and faculties] to sin as instruments (tools) of wickedness. But offer and yield yourselves to God as though you have been raised from the dead to [perpetual] life, and your bodily members [and faculties] to God, presenting them as implements of righteousness.
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭4‬, ‭11‬, 13 AMPC‬‬

“I have been crucified with Christ [in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ (the Messiah) lives in me; and the life I now live in the body I live by faith in (by adherence to and reliance on and complete trust in) the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2‬:‭20‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“Therefore, my dear ones, as you have always obeyed [my suggestions], so now, not only [with the enthusiasm you would show] in my presence but much more because I am absent, work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling (self-distrust, with serious caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ). [Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2‬:‭12‬-‭13‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“Who are being guarded (garrisoned) by God’s power through [your] faith [till you fully inherit that final] salvation that is ready to be revealed [for you] in the last time.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“For this is the will of God, that you should be consecrated (separated and set apart for pure and holy living): that you should abstain and shrink from all sexual vice,”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4‬:‭3‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“So whoever cleanses himself [from what is ignoble and unclean, who separates himself from contact with contaminating and corrupting influences] will [then himself] be a vessel set apart and useful for honorable and noble purposes, consecrated and profitable to the Master, fit and ready for any good work.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭21‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“THEREFORE, SINCE these [great] promises are ours, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that contaminates and defiles body and spirit, and bring [our] consecration to completeness in the [reverential] fear of God.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭7‬:‭1‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“For [our earthly fathers] disciplined us for only a short period of time and chastised us as seemed proper and good to them; but He disciplines us for our certain good, that we may become sharers in His own holiness.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭10‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭18‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“Sanctify them [purify, consecrate, separate them for Yourself, make them holy] by the Truth; Your Word is Truth.”
‭‭John‬ ‭17‬:‭17‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her, So that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the Word,”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“Who were chosen and foreknown by God the Father and consecrated (sanctified, made holy) by the Spirit to be obedient to Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and to be sprinkled with [His] blood: May grace (spiritual blessing) and peace be given you in increasing abundance [that spiritual peace to be realized in and through Christ, freedom from fears, agitating passions, and moral conflicts].”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“Beloved, we are [even here and] now God’s children; it is not yet disclosed (made clear) what we shall be [hereafter], but we know that when He comes and is manifested, we shall [as God’s children] resemble and be like Him, for we shall see Him just as He [really] is. And everyone who has this hope [resting] on Him cleanses (purifies) himself just as He is pure (chaste, undefiled, guiltless).”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭3‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭AMPC‬‬
