Passion for God

“It was nearly time for the Jewish Passover celebration, so Jesus went to Jerusalem. In the Temple area he saw merchants selling cattle, sheep, and doves for sacrifices; he also saw dealers at tables exchanging foreign money. Jesus made a whip from some ropes and chased them all out of the Temple. He drove out the sheep and cattle, scattered the money changers’ coins over the floor, and turned over their tables. Then, going over to the people who sold doves, he told them, “Get these things out of here. Stop turning my Father’s house into a marketplace!” Then his disciples remembered this prophecy from the Scriptures: “Passion for God’s house will consume me.” ‭‭John‬ ‭2:13-17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus was red hot on fire for God’s house and His plans, He was passionate to see His Father’s will! We are called to be like Jesus.

Jesus was not complacent and indifferent. He knew what was wrong, and He took a stand against it. He was passionately against wickedness, and He loved righteousness! He picked people who were moving, doing, and being productive with their hands!

“You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, O God, your God has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus’ disciples

“Afterward Jesus went up on a mountain and called out the ones he wanted to go with him. And they came to him. Then he appointed twelve of them and called them his apostles. They were to accompany him, and he would send them out to preach, giving them authority to cast out demons. These are the twelve he chose: Simon (whom he named Peter), James and John (the sons of Zebedee, but Jesus nicknamed them “Sons of Thunder” )” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭3:13-17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Sons of thunder? Jesus picked these guys! We see in John 18:10; Peter took a sword and sliced the right ear of a high priest’s slave! These guys were intense! They were not weak, whiny sniveling, or silent ones! They had passion!

Paul was going after the church with a zeal when Jesus stopped him on the road!

Time to make a change!

Living a worldly life, in disobedience, opens the door to the devil. Living in sin will welcome complacent and indifference.

First step to do:

Repentance from dead works (lack of passion in your life will result in dead works)

“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.” ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Not about being driven by sensual desires of the flesh, or carnal cravings that try to pull you, push you and drive you, but having a PASSION FOR THE LORD and LORD’S HOUSE!

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Hungry for God!

Bible is packed with individuals who DESIRED to see things happen!

“Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭11:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Hannah passionately prayed to the Lord in the temple! (1 Sam 1)

“He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.” ‭‭Titus‬ ‭2:14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Zealous in KJV (zealous of good works)

We need to be committed against anything that would hold back revival in our land. Lack of passion is a big problem! Devil hates our zeal for God! We are not cold faced zombies, but passionate people who love God, and want to see His Kingdom ADVANCE.

As Jesus turned the tables of the money changers, the disciples realized He had a passion for the house of God. This same passion should be in us! By the WORD of God we see the difference between what earthly and heavenly is! So we can pursue what is of GOD and HIS Kingdom!
