It is a life. You can have it if you want it!
““Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Matthew 7:7-8 NLT
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30 KJV
First, let us look at the God of the Bible.
God is eternal, omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent. He holds everything together in and by His hand.
Bible says He is the great I AM,
- Almighty God
- One who was, who is, who is to come.
- He does not change.
God is not a myth of the ancient times, but the creator of heaven and the earth. Personal God, John saw in on the throne!
- Infinite in wisdom, unlimited in power, always present. He lives in unapproachable light.
- Job was doing quite well considering human standards, but once he met God, he truly repented. It’s one thing to reason things, another thing entirely to meet Him.
- Isaiah was a man of God, but when he was taken before the throne everything changed in his life.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”
John 1:1-5 KJV
“And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.”
Exodus 3:14 KJV
“For I am the Lord, I do not change; that is why you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.”
Malachi 3:6 AMPC
“WHEN ABRAM was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, I am the Almighty God; walk and live habitually before Me and be perfect (blameless, wholehearted, complete).”
Genesis 17:1 AMPC
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”
Revelation 1:8 KJV
“And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.”
Revelation 4:2-3 KJV
“Who alone has immortality [in the sense of exemption from every kind of death] and lives in unapproachable light, Whom no man has ever seen or can see. Unto Him be honor and everlasting power and dominion. Amen (so be it).”
1 Timothy 6:16 AMPC
“I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: But now mine eye seeth thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent In dust and ashes.”
Job 42:5-6 KJV
“Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.”
Isaiah 6:5 KJV
Then, we’ll look at ourselves..
God created us into His likeness, in His image, to have dominion, and to walk with Him. To share in His character.
- In His likeness.
- To walk with Him.
- To share in His nature.
- Enoch discovered this even after the fall
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”
Genesis 1:26-28 KJV
“And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.”
Genesis 3:8 KJV
“And Enoch walked [in habitual fellowship] with God; and he was not, for God took him [home with Him]. [Heb. 11:5.]”
Genesis 5:24 AMPC
By man’s rebellion this relationship was lost, as God had said, that man would surely die.
“for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Romans 3:23 KJV
“but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
Genesis 2:17 KJV
God’s nature is revealed to us in His Word, and in Christ.
He is good, loving, kind, faithful, merciful, and He is love..
.. and He is HOLY.
“Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: Turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.”
Psalm 69:16 KJV
“They are new every morning: Great is thy faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:23 KJV
“He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”
1 John 4:8 KJV
“And one cried to another and said, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!”
Isaiah 6:3 AMPC
“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”
Matthew 5:8 KJV
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:”
Hebrews 12:14 KJV
If man would once again to walk with God, man would need a way to be holy.
So, what does it mean to be a Christian?
Christianity is God’s love plan to bring to bring men back to Him in Christ.
“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: that in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:4-10 KJV
“but we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; but unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.”
1 Corinthians 1:23-24 KJV
- Believe that Jesus is who He said He is.Believe that He died for your sins on the cross.
- Believe that God raised Him from the dead.
- Wholeheartedly turn your back to the world and sin, and follow Jesus, confess Him as your Lord
- Receive new life and forgiveness of sins
- Receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit
- Get baptized in water
While on the outside we keep growing and changing daily, as we receive Jesus in our hearts, we become new on the inside, and we become alive unto God, and we can walk with Him! That’s what it means to be a Christian. One with eternal life, and desire to be like Him.
“Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is.”
1 John 3:2 NLT
Christian Church is therefore a group of people, washed in the Blood of Jesus, set apart for His purpose, called out from the world, and in heavenly union & fellowship together on the earth as family of God.
“And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure.”
1 John 3:3 NLT
He is Holy …
… our desire is to be as He is in every way.
