In Numbers 13 we discover what happened to Israel as they were getting ready to possess the land:
“See what kind of land they live in. Is it good or bad? Do their towns have walls, or are they unprotected like open camps?”
Numbers 13:19 NLT
“This was their report to Moses: “We entered the land you sent us to explore, and it is indeed a bountiful country—a land flowing with milk and honey. Here is the kind of fruit it produces.”
Numbers 13:27 NLT
“But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!””
Numbers 13:31 NLT
“But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!””
Numbers 13:30 NLT
- God’s Word for Israel was clear: to possess the land!
- Vision was clear as well, it was a good land!
They knew that the land was good, and they knew that it was God’s will for then to take it, but not all believed they could do it.
“(for we walk by faith, not by sight:)”
2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV
“Mehän vaellamme uskossa, emme näkemisessä.”
2. Korinttilaisille 5:7 FINRK
.. Saying it this way may be a good way to unpack this:
we don’t walk by feelings that are governed by our circumstances and surroundings, following our senses.
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”
John 10:10 AMPC
- We don’t conduct our lives by what we see, hear, feel.
- We live by faith
- God’s Word, and in response to His Word, is how we live.
God’s Word is inspired (God-breathed) and ..
.. infallible. (never fails)
.. inerrant. (no mistakes)
Smith Wigglesworth, Ever Increasing Faith, p. 22
“I am not moved by what I see. I am moved only by what I believe. I know this — no man looks at appearances if he believes. No man considers how he feels if he believes. The man who believes God has it. Every man who comes into the Pentecostal condition can laugh at all things and believe God.”
“But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].”
Hebrews 11:6 AMPC
“Mutta ilman uskoa on mahdotonta olla kelvollinen, sillä sen, joka tulee Jumalan luo, täytyy uskoa, että Jumala on ja että hän palkitsee ne, jotka häntä etsivät.”
Heprealaisille 11:6 FINRK
“Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”
Mark 9:23 KJV
“Jeesus sanoi hänelle: ”Jos voit! Kaikki on mahdollista sille, joka uskoo.””
Markus 9:23 FINRK
“I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.”
Romans 12:1 AMPC
- With Bible heart-faith in God’s Word, we believe.
What moves you?
Let God’s Word, and faith in His Word move you!
Scriptures:
“And how from your childhood you have had a knowledge of and been acquainted with the sacred Writings, which are able to instruct you and give you the understanding for salvation which comes through faith in Christ Jesus [through the leaning of the entire human personality on God in Christ Jesus in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness]. Every Scripture is God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action), So that the man of God may be complete and proficient, well fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:15-17 AMPC
“And we also [especially] thank God continually for this, that when you received the message of God [which you heard] from us, you welcomed it not as the word of [mere] men, but as it truly is, the Word of God, which is effectually at work in you who believe [exercising its superhuman power in those who adhere to and trust in and rely on it].”
1 Thessalonians 2:13 AMPC
“For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)”
Romans 5:17 KJV
