But when the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) comes, Whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of Truth Who comes (proceeds) from the Father, He [Himself] will testify regarding Me. But you also will testify and be My witnesses, because you have been with Me from the beginning.
John 15:26-27 AMPC
I HAVE told you all these things, so that you should not be offended (taken unawares and falter, or be caused to stumble and fall away). [I told you to keep you from being scandalized and repelled.] They will put you out of (expel you from) the synagogues; but an hour is coming when whoever kills you will think and claim that he has offered service to God. And they will do this because they have not known the Father or Me. But I have told you these things now, so that when they occur you will remember that I told you of them. I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you. But now I am going to Him Who sent Me, yet none of you asks Me, Where are You going? But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your hearts [taken complete possession of them]. However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you].
John 16:1-7 AMPC
Jesus came to redeem us, and make a way for us
In Whom we have our redemption through His blood, [which means] the forgiveness of our sins.
Colossians 1:14 AMPC
By the work of Christ: His suffering, death on the cross, and resurrection we have new life by faith.
He commissioned us as His witnesses, to testify of His resurrection.
This Jesus God raised up, and of that all we [His disciples] are witnesses.
Acts 2:32 AMPC
It was “profitable (good, expedient, advantageous)” that Jesus went away
Holy Spirit would come, to fill each disciple of Christ, who is thirsty!
Now on the final and most important day of the Feast, Jesus stood, and He cried in a loud voice, If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink! He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water. But He was speaking here of the Spirit, Whom those who believed (trusted, had faith) in Him were afterward to receive. For the [Holy] Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified (raised to honor).
John 7:37-39 AMPC
This is a promise, not only for the church in Jerusalem 2000 years ago, but for the entire church age, and to every believer!
For the promise [of the Holy Spirit] is to and for you and your children, and to and for all that are far away, [even] to and for as many as the Lord our God invites and bids to come to Himself. [Isa. 57:19; Joel 2:32.]
Acts 2:39 AMPC
Power within will bring persecution
If the world hates you, know that it hated Me before it hated you.
John 15:18 AMPC
Jesus did not act foolishly, rudely, or selfishly. He acted in love, in truth, and in power.
As we follow His example, persecution will follow!
