We are to cultivate and grow in our personal prayer life!
“Be unceasing in prayer [praying perseveringly];” 1 Thessalonians 5:17 AMPC
His house is a house of prayer – each of us is to be a house of prayer. Matthew 21:13
Dr. Lester Sumrall called prayer the “greatest source of untapped resources in the world”.
Quoting EM Bounds (Weapon of Prayer):
“Jesus Christ was divinely appointed leader of God’s people, and no one thing in His life proves His eminent fitness in that office so fully as His habit of prayer.”
Confidence (Eph. 3:12, 1 John 5:14) and Humility (James 4:6) are keys as we enter the topic of prayer. We come humbly to Him confidently trusting His promises. We pray to the Father, in the name of Jesus Christ.
BREAKTHROUGH POINTS:
Access by the blood & by His great promises
“And now we are brothers and sisters in God’s family because of the blood of Jesus, and he welcomes us to come into the most holy sanctuary in the heavenly realm—boldly and without hesitation. For he has dedicated a new, life-giving way for us to approach God. For just as the veil was torn in two, Jesus’ body was torn open to give us free and fresh access to him!” Hebrews 10:19-20 TPT
- Time to take steps! To boldly enter into prayer!
- We are directed to boldly come to the Throne of Grace! (Heb. 4:16)
Because of Jesus, we have this great access! Because of what He has done!
Learning to know your Heavenly Father through the Word
“… people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” Daniel 11:32b KJV
By the Word of God, we learn to know our heavenly Father.
- He is a covenant God
- He loves you
- He is almighty
The more you learn to know Him, the better it gets!
He is a God who answers your prayers! Think about Peter in the prison, how the Lord delivered Him as the saints prayed! (Acts 12:5) And what happened to Paul and Silas? (Acts 16:25) God answers prayer today! Hallelujah!
Building faith in the Word
The Key is to believe and act on the Word of God. Then be quick to obey!
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 KJV
- Faith comes by hearing of the Word of God
- Meditating on His promises to you
Once we know His will we can put our faith to work in prayer! (Mark 11:23-24)
Thanksgiving, praise, and worship
“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;” Ephesians 5:18-20 KJV
- A heart of gratitude
- Praise on your lips
- Pure worship
Praying in the Holy Ghost!
“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,” Jude 1:20 KJV
The New Testament prayer includes being filled with the Holy Ghost and speaking in other tongues. There is no example of the church in the Word of God without the Holy Ghost filling every vessel.
if you are lost; you need Jesus and then be filled with the Holy Ghost!
Praying in the spirit (1. Cor. 14:14), being edified (1. Cor. 14:4), speaking mysteries to God (1. Cor. 14:2), thanking Him well (1. Cor. 14:17) and being built up (Jude 20).
Stay in prayer always; for the church, your pastors and leaders, all the helps ministry, government leader! It’s time to see big things!
