Joyfulness of Heart

“As Jesus continued on toward Jerusalem, he reached the border between Galilee and Samaria. As he entered a village there, ten men with leprosy stood at a distance, crying out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!” He looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy. One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, “Praise God!” He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” And Jesus said to the man, “Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you.””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭17‬:‭11‬-‭19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

One study discovered that one of the main sources of happiness is not money, possessions, intelligence, good looks, popularity, climate or health. They found out that the main source of happiness is gratitude! Gratitude is not something found outside of yourself. Gratitude comes from within. It’s not what’s in your hands, but what’s in your heart. Gratitude is an attitude – an attitude you choose to have and display. Gratitude is a decision – you can choose whether or not to be grateful.

“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭15‬-‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

  • Only one who was healed came back to give thanks.
  • What about the other 9?

“Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joyfulness of [mind and] heart [in gratitude] for the abundance of all [with which He had blessed you], Therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the Lord shall send against you, in hunger and thirst, in nakedness and in want of all things; and He will put a yoke of iron upon your neck until He has destroyed you.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭28‬:‭47‬-‭48‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

  • Serving God with joyfulness of heart (in gratitude) is a requirement!

“This year
I shall serve the Lord
with a joyful heart
and with a good attitude.”

“If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the best of the land;”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭1‬:‭19‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“Only do what He tells you to do!”
“Do it with a joyful heart! Heart of gratitude!”
